In an email to parents on Thursday, Oct. 29, officials said that the Weston Intermediate School staffer's case was believed to be contracted off school grounds.
The newest confirmed case came a day after nearly two dozen student-athletes at Weston High School were placed into quarantine due to possible exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
“We received confirmation today that a staff member at Weston Intermediate School tested positive for COVID-19,” officials said. “The administration has been monitoring this situation, which occurred outside of school grounds.”
A staff member at Weston Intermediate School also tested positive for the virus last week, forcing the school to temporarily return to remote learning for a day on Thursday, Oct. 22.
Officials said that they’ve reviewed the latest positive case and there was no risk of exposure to students or other staff members.
“In the spirit of transparency, it is important to notify and reassure our community within the parameters of confidentiality,” they said. “We would like to underscore the importance of wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and staying home when experiencing COVID-like symptoms.”
